XploreX is a full day event, to be held on 2nd of November 2019, where 12 modern day explorers, pioneering sports personalities and achievers take to the stage sharing stories of their adventures, past, present and future. ADVENTURERS sharing TALES for TAILS.
XploreX is being curated as a way of raising both awareness and funds for local animal welfare organization, African Tails. The event is 100 percent run by volunteers, with all profits raised going directly to African Tails. Nobody makes a cent, except African Tails.
We’re devoted to raising over R100 000 for AfricanTails.co.za, a non-profit dedicated to saving our street dogs. XploreX is more than a one-day event – it’s a devotion to making a difference by sharing stories that motivate, educate and uplift.
What is XploreX?
XploreX is a full day event, where modern day adventurers will take to the stage and share stories of their adventures, past, present and future. There will be exciting talks by 12 explorers, pioneering sports personalities and achievers throughout the day. ADVENTURERS sharing TALES for TAILS.
There will also be entertainment between the talks. Included in your ticket price is a light lunch of assorted pastas, garlic breads and salads.

Radio personality and around the globe sailor. Not only did Malcolm sail around the planet, he built the yacht that took him and his family, including a baby daughter, on this voyage.
Extreme cyclist with cystic fibrosis. Jason has completed the Cape Epic and multiple Cape Town cycle tours.
Alex is the organizer behind the Ride for Rhinos adventure tour and a strong advocate for Rhino anti-poaching. He is the only operator to take ADV bikers into Kruger national park on motor cycles. He has also completed a circumnavigation of South Africa. Although Alex lives in the United Kingdom, his heart lies in beautiful South Africa.
Tegan is the cartoonist behind Unclipped Adventure. She has completed multiple awesome journeys herself, including one where she undertook an Iron man a day around New Zealand’s south island. Fresh off the TEDx stage, she will entertain with her witty sense of humor and have everyone laughing out loud.
Chaeli is a remarkable young adventurer and ability activist who is a quadriplegic with cerebral palsy. Chaeli has partaken in the Cape Town cycle tour, been to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, and completed a 5 day horse ride. Through her Chaeli foundation, she is the voice behind the “bet Chaeli can’t” campaign.
SA Nightjar Adventurer of the year 2013, who kayaked the entire South African coastline. Richard continues to paddle and teach padding and a little bird told us that he has his eyes set on become the first person to kayak over the Atlantic Ocean
Extreme runner and African Tails advocate. Willie is the ultimate long distance runner and athlete. Working as a saturation diver does not stop this enthusiast from training and completing his multiple adventures and raising funds for African Tails.
Blind adventurer and Travel writer who lost his sight after a 30000km, 8 month, ride from Cape Town to Dublin on a little 150cc Vespa scooter. Since sight loss, Christopher has travelled by ocean and air, road and rail and today, tells stories of how he experiences travel and adventure, by describing the experience, enjoyed through his four remaining senses. He recently undertook a journey in the footsteps of 19th century Blind traveller, James Holman, where he took part in many challenges, from climbing the active volcano, Mount Etna to a kayaking trip on the Amalfi coast. At the moment, he is working on his next big adventure, but we will leave it for him to share the details at XploreX 2019.
Kosta Papageorgiou is climbing Lions Head 500 times – to aid 5 different charities in the Western Cape. He undertook this adventure to learn about himself and the human spirit, and along the way has discovered that climbing this mountain gives people the perspective, resolution and confidence to surmount their own challenges. He believes in giving hope to those who feel lost and is eager to change the world, one inch at a time.
Freediver and shark warrior, Lesley Rochat is a South African marine and shark conservationist, campaigner, wildlife filmmaker, underwater photographer, environmental writer, author, speaker and activist. She founded the non-profit organisation AfriOceans Conservation Alliance in 2003
Arafat is something of an accidental adventurer. His passion for doing the extraordinary was sparked after he started walking from the war torn DRC to Cape Town. Today, he is an open water swimmer who has swam around both Cape Point and Robben island. Arafat now has his mind set on becoming the first black African to swim across the English channel.
TV and Radio personality plus multiple athlete. Completed many Duzi canoe challenges, Cape Town Cycle tours, Iron mans and recently returned from a tandem cycle through the Himalaya mountains with a blind partner.
The event will be MC’d by Andre Du Toit, The big positive guy, Of Smile FM Assisted by Herc Helgwa and Nadine McLean.

Whatever you do, just grab one fast. There is limited space and this event is sure to be a sell-out.
Things to remember:
– Gates open at 9am
– There is free parking
– Seating is not reserved, so come early if you want to grab the best seats.
– Light lunch is included. This will be a selection of pastas, salads and garlic bread, catered by the Italian club restaurant. Please note, this is only a light stand up lunch and not a HUGE buffet. For those needing a double dose of carbs, the restaurant next door will be open for pizzas, pastas and a selection of larger meals. There is also a full cash bar on site. For the early arrivals, there will be coffee and some bacon butties available for purchase.
